Dean Urban on WGNS

Global Commerce: Foreign Investment into Tennessee

The latest state exporting research from the Business and Economic Research Center reveals: 2013 foreign investment into Tennessee was higher than for 2008-10 combined, and state exports exceeded $8 billion for the second consecutive quarter. Consumer Survey Shows Confidence Up

Middle Tennessee consumers are more optimistic about the economy in early 2014, according to a survey conducted by the Jones College of Business Office of Consumer Research at MTSU. “More positive consumer outlook measures can signal an increased willingness to spend among consumers, which can further add to any growth in the economy,” said Tim Graeff, director. “Local consumers appear to be increasingly optimistic about continued improvements in the economy.” [ more at Tennessean.com ]

UBS, a global financial services firm, is recruiting for their 18-month rotational Graduate Training Program. This on-the-job training is designed to develop management and professional skills. Upon completion of the program, UBS will work with employees to find the most suitable role for the employee and the organization. Although UBS is a financial services firm, this offer is not targeted to finance students; UBS is anxious to recruit students from all business disciplines.

Basic requirements: Candidates must have completed or expect to complete a four-year bachelor’s degree or MBA degree between December 2013 and May 2014 and carry a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.
