Consumer Survey Shows Confidence Up

Middle Tennessee consumers are more optimistic about the economy in early 2014, according to a survey conducted by the Jones College of Business Office of Consumer Research at MTSU. “More positive consumer outlook measures can signal an increased willingness to spend among consumers, which can further add to any growth in the economy,” said Tim Graeff, director. “Local consumers appear to be increasingly optimistic about continued improvements in the economy.” [ more at Tennessean.com ]

Poll: Consumers More Optimistic about Future

Consumer confidence in Middle Tennessee rose significantly this week, with consumers polled by telephone expressing more optimism about the economy, the job market and their stocks.... "Even though consumers are more confident and more hopeful about the future, the future economy and future jobs, they don't see it right now," said Timothy Graeff, director of MTSU's Office of Consumer Research, which conducts the consumer poll periodically. [Daily News Journal article]
